How Starting Over is a Chance to Make Things Right?

If starting over is not what you had planned for this moment in your life, it may help to know that you’re not alone. Carrie Underwood sums up best what so many of us feel when one door closes and we wait for another to open: “I guess it’s going to have to hurt, I guess I’m going to have to cry, And let go of some things I’ve loved to get to the other side … Sad but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life starts with goodbye.” Life is full of stops and starts. New jobs come and go, friendships begin and end, hopes and dreams sometimes wither instead of bloom. If you’re in the midst of starting over at a significant time in your life, there are many things you can do to help turn a seemingly bad situation into a good one. Allow yourself room to make mistakes. Getting back on your feet after a major disappointment is rarely easy and often painful. Take baby steps. If a relationship has ended, give yourself time to jump back into the dating pool. Instead, pamper yourself by taking the time to do all the little things you may have neglected, like enjoying a girls-only lunch or reading that book you bought months ago.  Think of your new start as a do-over, a chance to get things right, and definitely not as a failure. Strong women know that nothing is guaranteed in life. Starting over is a second chance, an opportunity to learn from mistakes and emerge from the past better than ever. Starting over is never something to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. Consider it a gift to be able to pursue new dreams or forge a different path. While you’re on a new road to discovery, be sure to find kindred spirits along the way. Joining a gym, taking an art class, or volunteering at a local charity are great ways to bump into friends you haven’t met yet! As you journey along your new path, remember that fear is normal, but so are curiosity and confidence. It’s just a matter of time before you’re navigating your new normal like you’ve been here all along.
