A lot of us wake up and groan at the sound of our alarm, wishing we could snooze and roll over for a few more hours. We can’t, however, so we get up and move through our day at a sluggish pace. Arbor Behavioral Healthcare wants to help you be active in your morning and wake up with gusto. Continue reading to learn more about how to wake up happy!
Make Your Morning Easier
You’re going to want your morning to be as easy as possible. To do this, set out your clothes and work or school items the night before. If you have them ready to go, you’ll be able to get as much sleep in as possible. The more you do the night before, the better. Having your breakfast items laid out also helps force you to actually eat breakfast – too many of us don’t!
Move Your Body
Getting some movement in at the beginning of your day can help you wake up in a good mood. Stretch, do some yoga, and practice breathing activities. These things will help give you the jumpstart you need for the day.
Find an Alarm that Works for You
You don’t want to have an alarm that makes you groan or scares you awake first thing in the morning. Find an alarm that wakes you up but cheers you up as well. You don’t want to be woken up by a horrid beeping sound. Make your morning easier by setting a calming, but effective alarm.
Time for a Gratitude Journal
Thinking about gratitude is a great thing to do in the morning. When you know what you’re grateful for, you are able to go through your day looking forward to daily routines and feeling good about what you’re doing. Today, write down three things that you are grateful for. Continue this trend in the morning each day.
Stop Snoozing
Snoozing your alarm clock just keeps pushing off the inevitable. Try not to stay in bed and make waking up harder than it needs to be. Get up and get moving!
Stay Off Your Phone
Hopping on your phone right before bed or right when you wake up isn’t a good way to end the day or start your morning. Your notifications, messages, and social media can wait. Allow yourself to wake up naturally.
