How Can Guided Meditation Help Me?

Meditation can be difficult for some people. It takes practice to be able to sit silently, quiet your mind, and align your whole being. You can’t just slip into meditation after a long, stressful day and expect it to work within a few seconds. After all, there is no set of rules. It’s not a game that can be won or lost. Meditation is what you make of it. If you are struggling with traditional meditation, try using a guided meditation to help you relax.

Just Listen

While traditional meditation can be tricky, guided meditation is good for someone who is new to meditation and would like to start off easy. With guided meditation, all you have to do is listen. There are many free guided meditations out there that you can find relatively easy. Turn one on and sit quietly with yourself. Follow the words you hear, absorbing the sounds that are playing. Let the words guide your thoughts. If you are struggling with unrelated thoughts, take some deep breaths. On the exhale, let go of these random thoughts so that you can return to your guided meditation. It takes discipline to remain focused but, with time, you’ll get the hang of it. As you’re listening to the guided meditation, allow your imagination to paint a picture of what you are hearing. Imagine yourself riding the waves. Imagine what you would be hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching. Let yourself access your senses and guide you to a pleasant place.

Be Free

When you are listening to a guided meditation, you’ll be able to let go of your anxiety and stressors. Take this time to let go and be free of anxiety, stress, and negativity. You are allowed to be free and get in touch with your inner self. By using guided meditation and deep breathing, you’ll be able to truly relax and get in touch with yourself. Meditation has the power to relieve you of some of your anxieties and help you get in touch with who you are and what you believe in.

Make It a Habit

Making guided meditation a habit allows you to be comfortable with relaxation, which is something that many of us struggle with in our busy lives. Giving yourself time to de-stress helps you to reset yourself so that you have the energy and motivation to complete the goals you have set in your recovery.
