Treatment is only the first step to sobriety. Relapse prevention is all about making a smooth transition back into society as well as developing an ongoing support system. An important part of the recovery process is the continuum of care that continues after residential treatment. The Arbor Alumni Program, Advocacy program, aftercare, and monitoring help the graduates of our drug and alcohol rehab programs maintain a strong connection with Arbor support staff. Participation also helps graduates stay in touch with the friends formed during treatment.
The Arbor alumni group hosts a variety of sober fun activities and recovery-related events. Many stay in touch with each other, as well as The Arbor, through our social pages on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
The Arbor Alumni Group is a 12-Step Meeting every Wednesday at 7:30 pm. This meeting is held at Communities for Recovery on the Austin State Hospital campus. This meeting is optional for clients but is also open to anyone in the recovery community. The Alumni is led by Arbor Alumni members.
Alumni Birthday Night is a Monthly Anniversary Meeting
In addition to the Wednesday meetings above, alums celebrate years, and months, of continuous sobriety at the Alumni Birthday Night monthly meeting. The Alumni Birhtday Night Meeting features a guest speaker. This meeting is held at Communities for Recovery, located on the grounds of the Austin State Hospital. Alums, their families, and members of the recovery community are welcome from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, on the last Wednesday of every month.
In addition, Arbor Alums plan and participate in many other recovery events throughout the year. These include trips to University of Texas sporting events, sober volleyball tournaments, softball tournaments, sober campouts, trips to recovery conferences, as well as various service commitments throughout the community. Please continue to check the Arbor Alumni page for any upcoming events.
