• Arbor Alumni

AlumniTreatment is only the first step to sobriety. Transitioning back into society and developing a ongoing support system is what relapse prevention is all about. An important part of the recovery process is the continuum of care that continues after residential treatment. Through monitoring, aftercare and alumni programs, graduates of The Arbor Behavioral Healthcare program stay in contact with each other and maintain a strong connection with Arbor support staff. The Arbor alumni group also participates in a variety of sober fun activities and recovery-related events. Many stay in touch with each other as well as The Arbor through Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

The Arbor Alumni Group is a 12-Step Meeting every Wednesday at 7:30pm. This meeting, held at Communities for Recovery on the Austin State Hospital campus, is optional to clients, open to anyone in the recovery community, and led by alumni members.

Life in Balance is a Monthly Anniversary Meeting. Alums celebrate years, and months, of continuous sobriety at this monthly speaker meeting located at DeJoria Hall on the grounds of The Arbor Treatment Center. Alums, their families, and members of the recovery community are welcome from 3:00pm to 4:30pm, on the fourth Saturday of every month.

In addition, Arbor Alums participate in, and plan, many other recovery events throughout the year. These include trips to University of Texas sporting events, sober volleyball tournaments, softball tournaments, sober camp-outs, trips to recovery conferences, and various service commitments throughout the community. Please continue to check the Arbor Alumni page for any upcoming events.

    Upcoming Events:
May 30th, Trudgefest sober music festival and cookout, Camp Ben McCulloch, Driftwood, TX
June 18th, Fellowship of the Spirit sober campout, Russell Park, Lake Georgetown, Georgetown, TX

The Arbor’s Sixth Annual Alumni Reunion, which takes place the first weekend in November, will include food, recovery speakers, and fellowship with alums as well as their families. Alumni are encouraged to participate in the planning as well as attend the event.
